Coop launched the Supercard 20 years ago, and that should be celebrated, Coop boss Joos Sutter thought. In the new Coop magazine, the customer card, which has been in existence since 2000, measures up to three pages. The largest Swiss retailer also has a hit on its competitor Migros.

A blue card-themed cake serves as an image of the Supercard-Sause in the magazine. But if you look closely, you will notice the prominent name of the cardholder: Fabrice Zumbrunnen, himself the top boss of Migros.

«Congratulations on the second best customer loyalty program»

So the Migros driver secretly buys the biggest rival and also accumulates points there? No, a spokeswoman for Migros says on request: Mr. Zumbrunnen does not have a Supercard, but one of them is moved by the place of honor on the anniversary cake.

But Migros does not stop giving thanks and responds with a wink: “Migros launched Cumulus in 1997, and our customer loyalty program was certainly a good example for the launch of the Supercard.” And finally: “We would like to congratulate Coop on the second best customer loyalty program in Switzerland.”
