Aargau canton police carried out a speed check on Benkenstrasse near Oberhof on Thursday night with a laser measuring device. On this extra-urban route, the usual maximum speed of 80 km / h applies.
The first vehicle to be measured at the highest speed was a BMW X7. The police officer at the measuring device registered the car at 134 km / h, which corresponds to a punishable speed limit of 50 km / h.
Cantonal police stopped the car and reported the 35-year-old from Aargau. She took his driver’s license on the spot.
A little later, the canton police measured a motorcycle traveling downhill at 131 km / h from the top of the pass. Before the guard who stopped at the Oberhof entrance could stop the handlebar, it swung back up the hill at high speed. Once at the top, he spun again and then drove, partly on the rear wheel, down again quickly.
The canton police measured it again, this time at 125 km / h. The 22-year-old was eventually arrested and shown at Oberhof. He also had to surrender his driver’s license.
A 35-year-old motorcyclist who had measured 121 km / h was also not allowed to drive. Only one motorcyclist who had logged at a speed of 115 km / h was allowed to continue his journey for the time being. But even the 57-year-old must wait for the traffic authorities to take away his driver’s license.
The mountain route over the Benkerjoch is a popular leisure route and is used by many motorcycles on pleasant days. Heavy traffic in general, but especially the behavior of those who abuse the street as a private racetrack, inevitably causes noise emissions.
The police have received corresponding complaints from Oberhof for years. The canton police also carried out speed checks several times this summer, as they wrote in a message.
