Strong wind and lots of snow: Undine makes Saturday Super G impossible in St. Moritz – sport

The rapid departure of the skiers should be postponed. Heavy snowfall and strong winds made Super-G impossible in St. Moritz on Saturday. Around 50 cm of fresh snow fell in the valley overnight. Since persistent snowfall is also expected in the afternoon, the FIS decided to cancel early in the morning. Since Friday, winter storm Undine in St. Moritz has caused a sudden onset of winter. Just a week ago there was no snow in Corviglia.

There is also a question mark behind the Super-G planned for Sunday. The weather forecasts are not very promising yet. OK President Martin Berthod remained cautiously optimistic Friday afternoon: “There could be a small window if not too much snow falls in the morning.” That quiet confidence was disappointed.

Corinne Suter, in particular, was highly motivated by Super-G: “St. Moritz is one of my favorite places, I like everything here: the slopes, the town, the people. “In Engadin I still had an open ticket and it never got better than the sixth.
