Martin Frydek signed a contract with FC Luzern until June 30, 2022 today Monday. The 28-year-old Czech will join Fabio Celestini’s team next Tuesday after the domestic quarantine expires.
A few hours before the Swiss transfer market closes, FC Luzern has presented its seventh signing for this season. This is Martin Frydek, who will occupy the defensive left position in the future. Obviously, FCL sporting director Remo Meyer has hired a full-back who can also play precise crosses and crosses: in the Czech top division, the seven-time national player achieved a total of 23 assists and eight in Europe. He also scored nine league goals and three Europa League goals.
At Sparta Prague, he wore the captain’s armband
The defender launched his career at Sparta Prague, where he also made his debut in the Czech top league (Fortuna Liga) in the 2011/12 season. Following a short loan to FK Senica, Frydek moved to FC Slovan Liberec in January 2013, for which he completed the next two and a half seasons. For the 2015/16 season, Martin Frydek returned to Sparta Prague and became an important part of the best Czech club, representing 20 times in the Europa League. In Sparta, Frydek was also captain at times.
Free transfer
Martin Frydek has not had a club since July this year, he moves to FC Luzern for free and will play with number 13 at Blau-Weiss. “Martin Frydek is an interesting and very experienced player,” FCL sports director Remo Meyer is quoted in the press release. “Thanks to his technical skills and offensive drive, he will bring additional qualities to the team for us on the left.”
Martin Frydek is looking forward to the new challenge in Switzerland: “I would like to thank FC Luzern for the opportunity to play here. Discussions with those responsible convinced me of the transfer ”. After the home quarantine, he and his new teammates “will do everything possible to ensure the most successful season possible” starting Tuesday next week.
The new seven for the current season
For the sake of completeness, the seven newcomers to FC Luzern: Louis Schaub (on loan from Cologne), Yvan Alounga (from Aarau), Samuel Alabi (from Ashdod / ISR), Alex Carbonell (from Valencia), Dejan Sorgic (from Auxerre ), Varol Tasar (by Servette) and Martin Frydek (without club, with Sparta Prague until summer). Filip Ugrinic has also returned from his loan year at FC Emmen in the Dutch honors division.
