On Tuesday morning there was a head-on collision between a delivery truck and a car in Reichenbach im Kandertal. The driver of the van and the driver of the car were injured and had to be rescued from the vehicles. They were taken to the hospital by an ambulance and by Rega. The street was closed for several hours.
On Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at around 7.45am, the Bern Canton police were notified of an accident on the Frutigen ring road in Reichenbach in Kandertal. According to initial findings, a car from Frutigen was traveling in the direction of Reichenbach in Kandertal when, for reasons yet to be clarified, it took a slight right turn into the opposite lane and collided with an oncoming delivery van.
The 58-year-old driver of the car from Frutigen and the 19-year-old driver of the oncoming delivery van were trapped in their vehicles in today’s accident and had to be rescued by the Spiez fire department. The driver was injured by an ambulance, the injured driver was taken to a hospital in a Rega helicopter.
The Frutigen bypass had to be closed for several hours. The Frutigen and Reichenbach fire departments set up a detour. Clarifications have been initiated on the course of the accident.
