Investigations uncovered a Nigerian criminal organization transporting cocaine in the corps of couriers or hidden in suitcases from abroad to Switzerland on a large scale for several years. The cocaine was distributed and prepared for resale in various locations in Switzerland. To transport drug proceeds back, couriers had to smuggle the cash hidden in the body abroad.
The results of the investigation by the Zurich authorities led to other parallel proceedings at home and abroad. In total, around 115 kg of cocaine, 15 kg of marijuana, as well as euros and Swiss francs were seized for a total value of around 850,000. In Switzerland and other European countries, more than 200 people were arrested in connection with organized drug trafficking. (mlu)
