- Gregor Deschwanden jumps in Innsbruck as tenth for the first time in a touring competition in the top ten.
- The victory in the third competition of the Four Hills Tournament goes to the Polish Kamil Stoch.
- Karl Geiger and Halvor Egner Granerud disappointed in the race for the tour win.
Gregor Deschwanden also showed his strong form in the third jump of the Four Hills Tournament. In Innsbruck he achieved by far his best result in a touring competition with tenth place. So far, two 19th places (Bischofshofen 2015, Garmisch 2021) have been the best results of the Deschwanden tour.
The 29-year-old from Lucerne jumped 124.5 meters in the first round and then even improved in the final. With a jump of 126.5 meters, he worked his way from intermediate 11 to 10th place.
Two weak co-favorites
The victory over Bergiselschanze went to the Polish Kamil Stoch, who was already in the lead at half-time. He jumped 127.5 and 130 meters and thus prevailed over Slovenian Anze Lanisek and his compatriot and defending tour champion Dawid Kubacki.
Thanks to his victory in Innsbruck, Stoch also leads the overall ranking of the tour. This also because two favorite companions went wrong. Norway’s Halvor Egner Granerud (15th) and German Karl Geiger (16th) did not start in the first round and therefore have little chance of winning the tour.
Ammann out in the 1st round
Simon Ammann, who was the second Swiss to qualify to jump at Innsbruck, failed in the first round. He lost his duel by knockout against Geiger despite good conditions in the ascending phase. Dominik Peter failed in qualifying on Saturday.
So it goes
The decision to win the tour will be made at Epiphany in Bischofshofen.
