For the south and east of Switzerland, meteorologists counted on more extensive rains overnight. In the high Alps they expected up to a meter of fresh snow. Snow fell over the entire main Alpine range since noon on Monday. Also 50 centimeters of fresh snow was expected locally at 1500 meters.
In some parts of Graubünden there was a great risk of storms, in the rest of the canton and Ticino there was a risk of storms. On the southern side of the Alps, the line of snowfall only fell from 2,000 to 1,600 meters above sea level on Monday afternoon.
