In February 2019, Karin S. * († 29) was attacked with a hammer and killed just a few meters from her home in Dübendorf ZH. The daycare worker stands in a parking lot covered in blood. The perpetrator, a 35-year-old Swiss, filmed the victim and ripped off her necklace. Police arrested him just a day later. The murderer and the victim knew each other: he was her stalker. On Thursday he was tried in Uster ZH. According to psychiatric reports, he is not guilty. He has Asperger’s autism.
Murdered woman in Dübendorf ZH: That’s what the dead man’s best friend says(03:28)
The prosecutor qualifies the fact as homicide. However, he requested that the confessed suspect be declared incapable of guilt and admitted to a clinic. This was also supported by the defender. He claims to have qualified the act of intentional homicide. The representatives of the victim’s mother, sister and friends rejected the declaration of incapacity as inappropriate. They demanded a new report and payment of satisfaction and compensation totaling 130,000 francs.
“Deep developmental disorder”
Asperger’s autism is increasingly becoming a fashionable diagnosis, the psychiatrist said. In the case of the defendants, however, signs of the disease were found in early childhood, but they received inadequate treatment. The fact, and that the man saw no alternative, is closely related to the disease. This cannot be cured.
According to the expert, the “profound developmental disorder” has the particular consequence that the man is severely disabled in his social behavior. Lacks empathy. Cannot interpret facial expressions, glances, thrown comments. You need explanations.
I had to google what a kiss means
On the other hand, the illness is not restricted to other areas, such as the defendant’s work conduct: at the time of the crime, he was working in a reintegration company. There he met his later victim Karin S. and fell in love. The young woman was very fond of him at first, as the psychiatrist said. The man couldn’t do anything with these feelings either. When she kissed him once, he had to google what that meant.
When S. did not show up for a meeting, the man’s disturbance came to the fore: he insisted on an explanation and thus began to chase her, which scared her. After a while, he told his father. In 2011, the police fired up.
“I wanted to refuse”
When the agents went to see the suspect to speak with him, according to the psychiatrist, it was absolutely radical for him. He thought they accused him of bad things, like rape. It was clear to him that S. was seriously slandering him.
This thought now dominated his life. At least the defendant stopped his stalking. Annoyance and anger at the alleged slander continued to play on him, and a desire for revenge arose. In 2018 he lurked again. In February 2019, “I couldn’t take it anymore,” the defendant said in court. He “wanted to refuse.” I knew this was not right, but I did not see “another way”, then the brutal act happened.
No judgment has been made yet
During Thursday’s trial, the court decided not to pass judgment. He ordered a second psychiatric report. The judge said it should take about a year until the new expert opinion is ready and a judgment can be made.
It is not clear to the court whether the man is totally or partially incompetent. However, the killer has already been admitted to a clinic by Karin S. (SDA / bra)
