(mg) If the walking time is not as good as expected, it has been possible to cancel the space reserved in the SAC cabin free of charge the night before. “This increasingly led to the fact that many guests canceled at the last minute or more and more often booked multiple cabins and decided at short notice, depending on the weather, where to go,” wrote the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) in a message on Sunday. That is over now. As the SAC members decided at their General Assembly on Saturday, the deadline for free cancellation is set at two days prior to arrival.
This is to avoid the frustration of the cabin owners, who were often stuck with the food they bought due to many cancellations. Therefore, the general terms and conditions of the SAC cabins have been revised from 2012. Another new feature is that “the so-called no-show fee can be charged”, as the SAC writes. If the overnight stay in a cabin is booked through the online reservation system and a credit card is deposited, the rate can be charged directly to the card if the guests do not show up.
The new rules apply as of November 1. SAC members also adapted the rules themselves. In the future, the membership fee for individual members will increase by 10 francs, that of young members by 5 francs and that of families by 14 francs.
