A 19-year-old and a 21-year-old from the canton of Zurich competed in a race on the motorway near Spreitenbach at more than 200 km / h. Now the prosecution demands harsh penalties and an optional expulsion from the country.
Two young drivers will be sentenced to partial prison after an alleged speed race on the A1 motorway in Ostaargau and further speeding. The Baden prosecutor’s office is also calling for an optional expulsion from the country for Serbs and Kosovars.
The 19-year-old Serbian and the 21-year-old Kosovar from the canton of Zurich appeared on the A1 at Spreitenbach AG on the night of Saturday 11 April at enormous speed.
The two defendants were driving side by side in rented power cars. The 19-year-old was measured at a speed of 235 km / h, the 21-year-old at a speed of 224 km / h, as announced on Monday by the Aargau prosecutor. The permitted speed at the measurement point is 120 km / h.
After deducting the 7 km / h tolerance, this results in a punishable violation of the general maximum speed of 108 km / h or 97 km / h.
The Baden prosecutor’s office accuses the defendants of having repeatedly exposed other road users, themselves and their passengers, to a high risk of accidents with serious injuries or deaths due to their driving style.
Speeding filmed with mobile phone
In addition to exceeding the maximum speed limit on the highway and participating in an unauthorized race, the prosecution charges young drivers with new traffic offenses.
Among other things, they are said to have committed a massive speeding out of town, independently of each other: the 21-year-old once, the 19-year-old several times. The suspects had filmed these speeding events with their mobile phones.
The Baden prosecutor’s office is requesting that the 19-year-old Serb be sentenced to 3 years in prison, of which 18 months are mandatory, and a fine of 3,000 francs.
For the 21-year-old Kosovar, the prosecutor demanded a prison sentence of two and a half years, of which 15 months are mandatory, and a fine of 2,500 francs. In addition, he requests an optional expulsion from the country of 5 years for both suspects. It has not yet been determined when the trial will take place in the Baden District Court.
