- Investigations have been initiated by the prosecution against the doctor of the late Argentine soccer icon Diego Maradona.
- The competent authority of San Isidro confirmed this Sunday media reports on investigations against Leopoldo Luque on suspicion of negligent homicide.
In the course of the process, searches were carried out on Sunday at Luque’s private home and treatment rooms. The researchers were looking for evidence of physician misconduct in the 60-year-old man’s therapy.
Maradona’s three daughters are said to have asked authorities in earlier statements to review the medication they had prescribed for their father in recent months and in connection with a brain operation.
“Like a father”
Luque confirmed the searches to reporters. He is collaborating with the Public Ministry, which has confiscated Maradona’s medical records and electronic devices. With tears, she said she had nothing to blame. “I am proud of everything I have done for Diego.” He was like a father to him.
Luque had operated on Maradona earlier this month at a La Plata clinic for a blood clot in the brain. Eight days after the operation, the 1986 world champion was released. Two weeks later, Maradona died of a heart attack last Wednesday, according to official information.
