The Zürcher Verkehrsbetriebe (VBZ) has continuously closed most of its lines in the city of Zurich due to heavy snowfall.
The orderly transport operation is no longer possible and will be closed to allow for an orderly start of operations the next day, according to the VBZ website.
The VBZ announced that several airlines were blocked on numerous routes due to downed trees and that therefore tram and bus operations were no longer possible.
“Few connections are maintained without slopes and inclines where road conditions allow, regardless of the schedule,” the municipal transport association wrote shortly after 9 pm on its website.
An orderly operation of the tram is no longer possible and the entire city network will be continuously shut down starting at 10pm to allow an orderly operation to start again the next day. In urban areas, the VBZ recommends switching to the S-Bahn.
