- Jonas Lenherr achieved a podium finish for the seventh time in his career at Idre.
- The Swiss got second place thanks to his “safe instinct”.
- Fanny Smith aims for victory number 27 in the World Cup, but it is “only” third.
For the best Swiss result at the Ski Cross World Cup in Idre, Sweden, it was not Fanny Smith but Jonas Lenherr who cared for once. St. Galler came second behind Canadian Reece Howden and ahead of German Niklas Bachsleitner.
The final march between Lenherr and Bachsleitner was a matter of millimeters. Only the final photo was shown: the Swiss had put his opponent in his place with the tip of a finger. For Lenherr it is the first podium of this season and the seventh overall.
The small final in the men was the result of Ryan Regez, who secured fifth place. The rest of the Swiss had missed the quarterfinals.
Smith has to wait for the 27th victory
On Wednesday, Fanny Smith had equaled French Ophélie David’s record with the 26th World Cup victory in Idre. Three days later, the Vaudois set out to become the sole record holder.
After winning qualifying and a semi-final, in which she distanced herself from her 3 competitors for the small world tour of 1.35 seconds and more, Smith only crossed the finish line in third place. The two French Alizée Baron and Marielle Berger Sabbatel caught the Swiss. However, Smith could look forward to his 51st (!) Podium position.
After her third place on Wednesday, Talina Gantenbein was eliminated in the quarterfinals. The same fate happened to Sanna Lüdi, who had been in the small final 3 days ago.
