The Vaudois celebrate their 29th World Cup victory in Sunny Valley. For men, Joos Berry is on the podium.

In the women’s final, Fanny Smith and Sandra Näslund fought a thrilling duel in Russia’s Sunny Valley. The Swede gained a small advantage, but the Swiss climbed again in the final stretch. Finally, the two drivers crossed the line at the same time. The photo of the target showed Smith moving forward with the tip of his finger.

Ran to the goal

The Vaudois claimed their 29th World Cup victory with their latest effort. At the finish line he fell and initially stayed there. The World Cup winner slipped away lightly in the incident. “He hit my head pretty hard, but I’m fine,” Smith said.

With Talina Gantenbein and Sixtine Cousin, two other Swiss women had qualified for the quarterfinals. But both drivers were eliminated there.

Berry in 3rd place

From the Swiss point of view, there was also cause for joy among the men. Joos Berry took the podium in third place. The Bündner only had to admit defeat to Canada’s Reece Howden and Japan’s Ryo Sugai in the final.

For Jonas Lenherr, the quarterfinals were the end of the line. Marc Bischofberger and Tobias Baur had already failed in the round of 16. World champion Alex Fiva was absent, as was compatriot Ryan Regez, due to a positive corona test.
