The St. Gallen government has decided on the following new measures:
- The maximum number of people per meeting for public and private events is reduced to 10 people.
- The curfew for restaurants and leisure facilities will be extended from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
These restrictions envisaged by the government will be applied as of Sunday, December 13 and will be implemented if the Federal Council, contrary to expectations, does not order the national measures promised on Tuesday night. Close contacts must be quarantined
The canton of St. Gallen also decides to tighten the quarantine rules. All close contacts of people who have tested positive must be re-quarantined.
People who live in the same household with an infected person are reported by the contact tracing team. Other close contacts should be informed by the infected person. Canton Deputy Doctor Karen Peier says:
“We currently have a forest fire and can only interrupt individual chains of infection.”
Ski areas are only open until Christmas
According to federal ordinance, ski areas can open their operations until December 22, if a protection concept is approved.
“For the period after December 22, the government does not consider that the requirements for obtaining a permit are met.”
Then a permit can be promised if the reproduction factor is less than 1 and there are enough intensive care places available again in hospitals.
Transfer of visits to homes to public spaces
In homes, residents can still receive two visits per day. However, visits must now take place in a public access room with a protection concept. Visits to rooms are no longer allowed. “This is to relieve urgently needed staff in care,” said Government Councilor Laura Bucher.
