Today at noon there was a collision between a trailer and an impact mattress on the A2 freeway in Reiden. The driver was injured and was taken to the hospital in a rescue helicopter. The road was closed. Traffic was diverted through the exit and entrance. Salvage work is in progress.
On Friday, September 11, 2020, shortly before 12:30 p.m., a tow train headed north on the A2 motorway. At a construction site in Reiden, the tow train crashed into a truck with a Zentra shock absorber. This was parked in the right lane to secure the construction site.
The 45-year-old trailer driver was injured in the accident. He was rescued by the rescue service in cooperation with the fire department of the Sursee region and taken to the hospital in an Alpine Air Ambulance (AAA) helicopter.
The highway was closed during the investigation and rescue efforts. Traffic was diverted through the Reiden exit or entrance. Salvage work is still ongoing. The accident caused significant traffic obstructions on the highway and access roads in the area.
Damage to property cannot currently be quantified. This should amount to more than 100,000 francs.
