A car struck a pedestrian head-on in the crosswalk. The man was airlifted by Rega to hospital in critical condition.
The accident occurred on Friday morning (November 13, 2020), shortly before 9:15 am, on the Hinterbergstrasse in Steinhausen. A driver on his way to the Zugerland Mall missed a 74-year-old man in the crosswalk and struck him head-on. The pedestrian was thrown on impact today and suffered life-threatening injuries. After receiving initial medical attention from the Zug ambulance service, Rega took him to a hospital outside the canton in critical condition.
The exact course of the accident is the subject of further investigation. The Zug Police Forensic Service was responsible for obtaining evidence at the scene of the accident. The Zug canton prosecutor ordered a blood and urine sample from the person who caused the accident at the hospital. His driver’s license from the administrative authority (Traffic Office) was also withdrawn. Hinterbergstrasse had to be closed temporarily for the rescue of the wounded and for evidence, a detour was noted.
Employees of the Zug rescue service, Rega, the Zug canton prosecutor and the Zug police were on duty.
