The Federal Council could thus issue a de facto closure without prolonged consultation and without the need to declare an emergency. “The Federal Council wants to be prepared if the contagion in cantons or individual regions increases again drastically,” said Federal President Simonetta Sommaruga this week. In the future, the Federal Council should be able to make decisions “very quickly” in such cases.
