The Schalke Goalie Theater: it’s an incredible football saga. We take a short break.
Originally there was Ralf Fährmann (32). The man kept his box clean for years and was the undisputed number 1. Then came the great talent Alexander Nübel (24), ousted from the boatman, who was loaned abroad (Norwich and Norway) by Schalke shortly after being demoted.
Nübel fails and leaves
Nübel soon announced his move to Bayern Munich, got into the shit storm of his own hobby, started messing up and also caught a juicy red card suspension. Nübel suddenly sat on the bench and his manager Markus Schubert (22) was playing. But that too failed. Nübel had to go back to work. Back and forth: a symbol of the Schalke clash.
In the summer, Nübel left for Munich. At Schalke they were looking for a porter, the boatman who had returned from abroad after the loan was no longer trusted to do the job. Schalke dredged at Schwolow (28), but finished at Hertha.
And as no new goalkeeper had yet appeared at the start of the season, the first game against Bayern was a boatman in the area. S04 went swimming in Munich 0: 8, but Fährmann was not to blame for the debacle.
The boatman is not good enough
The Königsblau bosses continued to work on a new goalkeeper and eventually brought Frederik Rönnow to Gelsenkirchen. Even then, experts said it would be better to invest elsewhere.
In the third game of the season against Leipzig, Rönnow replaced the injured boatman during the break. Then Manuel Baum replaced David Wagner on the bench and declared Rönnow the new number 1, even if the boatman was fit again.
It was stupid that Rönnow was injured a month later, the “expelled” boatman inherited the place again until before Christmas. Schalke’s winless streak grew to 29 games and manager Reschke had to leave.
Gross trusts Ferryman
Then the Christmas blast. Christian Gross takes over Schalke! And finally both goalkeepers are back in shape. Until last Friday, Schalke insiders thought that the son of a great jumper and a police officer trusted Frederik Rönnow, who was heavily involved, for the goalkeeper issue. But on Saturday at 6.30 pm the boatman stands between the poles! 0: 3 against Hertha.
Has Gross compromised on the goalkeeper issue? If you have. How do you justify your decision? Gross: “Ralf has more experience at Schalke and as a leading player. From my point of view, it communicates more, which is extremely important in our situation. ”
Broadside for the bosses
“Spicy statement!” and “a resounding slap in the face from Gross to the team planners,” wrote the German soccer bible “Kicker” on Monday morning. Why is it obvious. If Schalke bosses believed at the start of the season that they had a goalkeeper problem, Gross now says otherwise. The solution in such a situation is experience and the boatman. This solution has always been there.
The time, effort, and money invested in Rönnow’s engagement are gone. The time, effort and money that would have been better spent on the remaining equipment, that is, on the equipment of the outfield players, was wasted.
The Swiss and his bosses now have to laboriously rebuild the team. Sead Kolasinac is already there, and there is also Marco Richter and the unemployed Julian Korb to take care of. For Stinkstiefel, of whom there are some at Schalke, they are looking for new clubs. Therefore, charcoal should be purchased for the newcomers.
But Gross has to focus on the next game. If his men don’t win against Hoffenheim on Saturday (3:30 pm), Tasmania Berlin has set the horror record of 31 games without a win.
If the boatman keeps the Schalke breed clean thanks to his experience, it would be half the battle. (rab)
