The new passenger rights in public transport will take effect on January 1, 2021 as planned. Alliance SwissPass announced Tuesday. Delays will be compensated.
Travelers are entitled to compensation for delays of more than one hour at the destination. If the delay is more than an hour, travelers with individual and route tickets receive 25 percent of the return fare. If it is more than two hours, it will be compensated 50 percent. According to the ordinance of the Federal Council, amounts less than 5 francs are not paid.
Subscription holders also receive compensation for delays. The amount is based on the daily value of the subscription. During a subscription year or month, a maximum of ten percent of the subscription value will be refunded.
This rule applies to all public transport in Switzerland. Claims for compensation can be filed online or at any staffed point of sale. (aeg / sda)
