At UBS, there will be a change of direction in early February. Axel Lehmann will be replaced in his functions as Director of Personal and Corporate Banking and UBS Switzerland by Sabine Keller-Busse, who is currently the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the large bank.
Lehmann decided to leave his current duties at the end of January 2021, according to a statement on Friday. After a transition phase, he will leave the company on July 31, 2021.
Iqbal Khan takes office
Keller-Busse’s successor to the chief operating officer position will be announced at a later date, as stated. In addition to her role as COO, she was also President of the EMEA region. Iqbal Khan will assume this role in addition to his previous duties.
The replacement of Lehmann by Keller-Busse is not a total surprise. Just this week, the German “Manager Magazin” suggested exactly this possible step. Lehmann was repeatedly accused, also in the local media, that UBS’s business in Switzerland had not been successful enough recently.
