Alexander Bolschunow shows no weaknesses in the final stage and is once again the winner of the Tour de Ski.
The tension in relation to the overall victory in the Tour de Ski had already been more or less external before the final stage at Alpe Cermis. Alexander Bolshunov’s lead of more than three and a half minutes was too great.
The dominator of the 2020/2021 test held up well again despite the effort of the last days and finished the 10-kilometer race 13 seconds behind his compatriot Denis Spitsow in second place on the record.
Cologne finished eighth
Bolshunov won the Tour de Ski for the second time in a row. Only Dario Cologna managed to do this in 2011 and 2012. The Münstertaler completed the prestigious final stage despite lung problems and finished in 17th place. In the overall standings, they fell from seventh to eighth.
This time, Roman Furger was the first Swiss to reach Alpe Cermis; for the second time, the final was held as a massive start rather than a chase race. Furger was a few seconds ahead of Cologna 14. Candide Pralong also finished 24th in the World Cup points of the daily standings.
Russians as strong as a bear
Six Russians make up the top 7 of the Tour de Ski. Only Manificat, a year from Cologne, was able to break through the phalanx in the absence of the Norwegians.
