Siegfried & Roy’s magician Roy Horn died. He died Friday (local time) at a Las Vegas hospital as a result of Covid-19, spokesman Dave Kirvin told the German Press Agency. Horn was 75 years old. The Nordenham-born coach near Bremen and his partner Siegfried Fischbacher were world famous for their shows with tigers and white lions.
“Today the world has lost one of the greats of magic, but I have lost my best friend,” Fischbacher (80) said in a message. When we met, I knew that Roy and I would change the world together. There would have been no Siegfried without Roy or Roy without Siegfried.
Seriously injured when performing
His Las Vegas career ended in October 2003 when a Tiger Roy Horn was seriously injured in a performance. Horn was never able to fully recover from the severe blood loss, stroke, and brain surgery after the accident.
“Roy has been a fighter all his life, even in the past few days,” said Fischbacher. He thanked the doctors and nurses at Mountain View Hospital. They fought “heroically against the insidious virus,” which ultimately killed Roy. “
One million dollar deal in Las Vegas
Horn had discovered his love of exotic animals as a boy in postwar Germany, including a cheetah named “Boy” at the Bremen Zoo. He hired as a butler on a cruise ship where he met Fischbacher.
The duo made their way with magic tricks and animals. In 1967, the two arrived in Las Vegas, about two decades later, the “masters of illusion” negotiated a million dollar deal with the “Mirage” hotel in the city of casinos.
