- Basel beat Lausanne 2-1 at home in a supplementary match in the 5th round of the Super League.
- Leading figures Valentin Stocker and Pajtim Kasami are at FCB.
- After Evann Guessand’s connecting goal in the 91st minute, the home side shuddered for a moment.
- In the other SL match on Wednesday, Sion won the “Rhone Derby” against Servette 2-0.
FC Basel almost lost a victory that was believed to be safe in injury time. First, the abruptly thrown Evann Guessand scored 1: 2 for Lausanne. Seconds later Gabriel Bares put the ball in front of Basel goalkeeper Heinz Lindner, but his shot was too weak.
In the seventh game of the season, FCB got their third win and beat the Vaudois in the table. The rojiblancos won their success through a more clarified performance against the opposing goal. The doors arose from two of those scenes:
- 41. Minute: FCB defender Jorge crosses from the left to the center, two Lausanneers let the ball pass, Stocker makes no effort to hit the ball from 8 meters to the right.
- 76. Minute: After a simple double with Fabian Frei, Pajtim Kasami is alone in front of Lausanne goalkeeper Mory Diaw and deliberately slides over the French to make it 2-0.
Basel had a bit more of the game overall, but the newly promoted didn’t retreat to the snail shell. Nikola Boranijasevic, Cameron Puertas and Aldin Turkes, among others, had opportunities. Guessand fell after a career duel with Andrea Padula in the penalty area, but referee Stefan Horisberger did not decide on a penalty.
