(pw) On Wednesday morning, around 12:40 a.m. M., Surveillance instruments detected movements in the area of ​​the “Gumpisch” zone, which subsequently caused stone impacts on the protective nets on Axenstrasse. This is what the Uri canton police wrote in a press release. As a result, Axenstrasse had to be closed immediately and the vehicles turned around on Axenstrasse. There were no injuries and to our knowledge the road and bridge were not damaged.

The specialists assessed the situation in situ. At 10:25 am, the Federal Highway Office (Astra) gave the go-ahead: the road will reopen to traffic at 11:30 am

The Axen has crashed so many times in recent months.

February 2: At 11am, Axenstrasse had to be closed due to an impending rockfall. The next day, at 4 p.m., it was open to traffic again.
September 25: The road was closed for half a day due to falling rocks.
June 8: The highway was closed for almost 40 hours due to falling rocks.
May 5: Due to debris flows, Axenstrasse in Gumpisch had to be closed for a day.

The National Highway Office, specialists from the Federal Highway Office, a private security service, the Schwyz Canton Police and the Uri Canton Police were in action.
