Well then. Shortly before the holidays, the Federal Council calls on the population to stay home, restaurants and all leisure activities must close three days before Christmas, and even fewer customers can enter stores.

“For many people, this is an important turning point,” Federal President Simonetta Sommaruga said yesterday afternoon in Bern. “The population will feel this very quickly and strongly in their daily life.”

Just in time for the darkest time of year, the last remnant of the Advent mood gives way to the leaden gravity of an enclosure, at least partially. The protest against him is no longer loud. Business unions, businessmen, political parties: almost everyone welcomes the fact that the Federal Council has imposed the harshest restrictions on public life in the country since spring. The restaurant industry is negative. But even the senior vice president doesn’t yell out loud for once, he’s content to “critically appraise” restaurant closings.
