A recently elected Republican congressman from the US state of Louisiana died after becoming infected with corona at the age of 41. “Covid-19 took Congressman-elect (Luke) Letlow away from us too soon,” wrote State Governor John Bel Edwards on Twitter Wednesday night. Letlow’s spokesman, Andrew Bautsch, confirmed the death of the politician in the US newspaper “News Star.”

According to the Washington Post, Luke Letlow is the highest-ranking American politician to die of Covid-19. It was not until December that Letlow prevailed in a second round to represent his constituency in Congress. He should have been sworn in on Sunday.

Letlow went public with her corona infection on December 18. First, the politician quarantined at home. When his condition worsened, he was admitted to the hospital.
