The mountain calls even in winter: the Titlis Bergbahnen have set a season ticket pre-sale record. Compared to the previous year, there is an increase of 38 percent. This is what the “Luzerner Zeitung” writes.
The newspaper conducted a survey among the ten largest ski areas in central Switzerland. “We have the most successful sales season we’ve ever had,” says Urs Egli, Titlisbahnen’s chief marketing officer.
In addition to the Titlis ski lifts, the operators of Mörlialp’s relatively small mountain railways also have a big advantage. The region offers four ski lifts. A chairlift. Advance booking is still open.
Less in der Melchsee-Frutt
In contrast, the season in the Melchsee-Frutt region is more average. Confidence remains. “Due to the current uncertainties, we are very pleased with the significant ticket sales,” says Daniel Domman, managing director of the local sports railways.
The abrupt end of the season in March saw the Melchsee-Frutt sports railways lose profits in the 10-15 percent range. Despite the good business of the summer, this could not be compensated. The good sales in the advance sale of fertilizers are not going to be able to save the annual accounts: “We expect that our annual accounts are negative,” says Domman.
Hoch-Ybrig down from previous year
The three Schwyz ski areas, Hoch-Ybrig, Sattel Hochstuckli and the Mythen region, are still below the previous year. The latter two declared to the “Luzerner Zeitung” that the losses were manageable.
Toni Pfyl, Head of Sportbahnen’s office in the Mythen region, says: “The anticipated sales will last until the end of November and the few percentage differences are not dramatic.” (ise)
