He insulted journalists, made a comparison with the Nazis, criticized Corona’s state measures and was a doctor in the canton of St. Gallen. Wattwil’s Rainer Schregel caused a stir in early September. Therefore, the health department of the canton of St. Gallen initiated a procedure against Schregel and, as a precautionary measure, removed him from his position as a doctor (VIEW reported).
But now the U-turn: Rainer Schregel has in the meantime been rehabilitated and is working at his old job again, as announced by the health department at the request of “Weltwoche”. Consequently, the St. Gallen Administrative Court ruled on October 1 that Schregel’s dismissal was illegal. The judgment is now final.
Planned clarifying discussion
But the adventure around Rainer Schregel doesn’t seem to be over yet. At the beginning of October, Schregel requested a “certificate of no objection” that would allow him to move to the canton of Lucerne, where, according to the newspaper, the doctor would be awaited with “open arms”. After a few days of hesitation, the authorities handed him the paper.
It is not clear if there will be a change. Before that, there should be another conversation with Gildo Da Ros, Secretary General of the St. Gallen Health Department. When asked by Weltwoche, Da Ros wouldn’t say whether they had already apologized to Rainer Schregel. (nim)
