Eight withdrawals, two race interruptions and the usual suspects at the top – the Tuscany GP was tough.

- 2. Valtteri Bottas (FIN, Mercedes) +04.880
- 3. Alexander Albon (THA, Red Bull) +08.064
- Out: ua Max Verstappen, Antonio Giovinazzi, Lance Stroll, Carlos Sainz, Pierre Gasly
The course of the race
Interruptions, interruptions, interruptions: it was a special race in the Formula 1 premiere at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello at the Tuscan GP. Two massive crashes, two red flags and the usual podium: Despite the extraordinary race course, the two “Silver Arrows” led confidently to ranks 1 and 2. Lewis Hamilton achieved his GP 90 victory ahead of Valtteri Bottas and Alexander Albon, the first in their Career led to the podium.
The accidents
The start of the race was turbulent with two massive crashes:
- 1 round: After a few corners, the race for Max Verstappen and Monza winner Pierre Gasly is over. After a series of unfortunate circumstances, the two pilots land in the gravel trap.
- 7th round: The safety car has barely left the track when the next accident occurs. With the flight restart, Bottas waits an extremely long time to accelerate again. As a result, several cars collide with each other at the rear of the field. Carlos Sainz, Nicholas Latifi, Kevin Magnussen and Antonio Giovinazzi are eliminated.
Due to debris on the track, the race had to be completely halted. The GP continued with a halted restart, this time without any surprise. Hamilton left Bottas without a problem, the two Mercedes drove away.
Monza podium as a bad luck charm
However, this interruption in the race should not have been the last. After a puncture, Lance Stroll lost control of his car on lap 43 and crashed into the barrier. Red flag again, interruption again. Apart from Gasly and Sainz, Stroll was also the last rider to surprisingly take the podium at the Monza GP.
Ferrari’s tarnished anniversary: Alfa in the points
The Italians had nothing to celebrate in Ferrari’s 1000th Formula 1 race. Charles Leclerc (8th) and Sebastien Vettel (10th) scored points but, like so many times this season, they fell short of expectations. Kimi Raikkonen finished the race in ninth position despite a 5-second penalty and scored two points for Alfa Romeo.
So it goes
Since the Singapore GP was canceled early, the next race will only take place in two weeks. On the program is the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi.
