The banking industry and the interests of the various players in the Swiss financial center have changed significantly in recent years, Raiffeisen writes in a statement Tuesday. As part of its group strategy, the banking group has critically reviewed its role to help shape the policy framework.
In the future, Raiffeisen will speak out independently on legislative and regulatory issues, the banking group writes. Regardless of this decision, Raiffeisen continues to advocate for a strong Swiss financial center and is interested in a friendly relationship with all relevant stakeholders.
SBA remains open
The Swiss Bankers Association (SBA) regrets Raiffeisen’s decision. In a separate communication, she emphasizes that she is also open to being a member of the Raiffeisen banks and their employees in the future. The SBA will remain committed to the general interests of the banking center.
The Bankers Association has reported differences between the various banking groups. Nationally oriented banks have spoken out separately on political issues through the National Bank Coordination (KIB) for several years: the KIB includes Migros Bank, the Raiffeisen Cooperative, the Association of Swiss Cantonal Banks and the Association of Regional Banks.
