Andri Ragettli hits hit after hit. Just two weeks ago, the 22-year-old shone with his latest video of the course. More than two million viewers watch his acrobatic show on his various social media channels. You can no longer even count your visits to the Internet.
But Grisons not only shine on the net, but also in the snow. The freeskier begins the new slopestyle season in Austria in the same way that the previous one ended in Calgary (Ka) in February: with a victory. Disciplinary World Cup champion triumphs in Stubai, now there are three successes in a row in all seasons. “That makes me proud. But most of all, I’m delighted that everything went so well,” Ragettli tells BLICK.
The 22-year-old owes the successful start of the mission to defend his title to his second career. After Ragettli finished the first race with 89.0 points in second place, he quickly changed his career for the second attempt and added a shovel. This is awarded with 94.0 points.
“My first race was a little easier, I really wanted to race safely,” explains Ragettli of his plan. “When I was successful, I was able to increase the level of difficulty.”
Christian Nummedal (No) is closer to Bündner with 91.75. But Ragettli remains unmatched and racks up his eighth World Cup victory. Almost even more impressive: in 38 World Cup starts, he was on the podium 20 times!
Bösch rewards the double podium
After his strong qualification, Fabien Bösch missed a podium with an annoying mistake on the last rail. Instead, he finished ninth. Kim Gubser (20) and Nils Rhyner (17) were 14 and 15.
Mathilde Gremaud, the only Swiss woman to survive qualifying, crashed in both races and finished sixth. The second fall in particular was severe, hitting his head pretty hard. The victory goes to the French Tess Ledeux.
Ragettli is now making video again
Now there is a break first. The World Cup in Copper Mountain (USA) in mid-December was canceled due to the Corona crisis. “We found out the night before the competition, it’s a shame. Now there is a condi camp for the first time and then there is training in Switzerland. And I’ll definitely keep an eye on the videos as well, ”Ragettli looks forward. So the next hit shouldn’t be long in coming.
