It is no coincidence that HC Davos quickly announces several transfers after the loss of sporting director Raeto Raffainer, who will move to SC Bern as sporting director.
The biggest name is Dominik Egli (22) of the SCRJ Lakers. Thurgau’s strong game and national defense performance had flirted with a move to Sweden. But Raffainer managed to get him excited about the HCD concept. The outgoing HCD sports director is still convinced that Davos is the right direction for Egli, especially as he would stand in the sun in Bern with Ramon Untersander, Andersson Street or Eric Blum. At HCD, Egli may replace Félicien Du Bois, who will step down. He signed until 2024.
Egli should play a key role
Last season, Egli was the most productive Swiss defender in the National League with 36 points. He could “play a key role in both the outnumbered and outnumbered game,” the HCD writes.
The other arrivals were already known: defender Thomas Wellinger (32, contract until 2023), who had gone through all levels of HCD descent, returns from Lugano.
Three new and young forwards
With Julian Schmutz (26, contract until 2023) of the SCL Tigers and the ZSC duo Raphael Prassl (23, until 2024) and Axel Simic (21, until 2023), new forwards arrive. “The three will not only bring a lot of fresh energy to Davos’ offensive game, they will also come primarily with the aim of further developing in athletics at HC Davos,” believes the HCD.
In addition, U-20 forward Jannik Canova (19) has been awarded a professional contract until 2023. (sr)
