The crown measures at Graubünden are tightening enormously. There are massive voluntary tests at the regional level.
What was decided? The situation in Graubünden has worsened, so measures must also be toughened, district president Christian Rathgeb told the media on Friday morning. A general protection concept was adopted for the festive season and the winter season, which includes additional measures. In addition, a comprehensive testing strategy is being implemented in various regions of the canton.
What applies to meetings? The canton of Graubünden prohibits gatherings of more than ten people, both in public and private spaces. Political events and meetings are excluded. For religious services and funerals, strict adherence to protection concepts applies and a maximum of 50 people can participate in such gatherings.
What applies to restaurants? It was already leaked on Thursday: all restaurants, including those in the ski areas, will be closed until December 17. Exceptions apply to delivery and takeout services, canteens and hotel guest restaurants.
What applies to schools In public and private schools, a mask is required on all school grounds until December 23, 2020. Kindergarten and primary school children are excluded.
Other restrictions: Leisure facilities will also be closed, for example cinemas, theaters, museums, as well as libraries, clubs or wellness facilities. The outdoor leisure facilities and wellness facilities for hotel guests are an exception. Sports activities in public or private areas with more than 10 people are also prohibited.
Voluntary mass testing: In addition to the restrictions, the Graubünden government relies on regional area and control tests. As part of a pilot project, the entire population of various regions is being tested on a voluntary basis. This strategy aims to provide a more accurate picture of the situation. Furthermore, the pilot project is intended to create the starting point for an area test throughout the canton. The tests are free for the public and are a first for Switzerland.
Numbers of cases in Graubünden: Across Switzerland, the number of cases has dropped slightly in recent days. In Graubünden, the numbers are even increasing slightly or stagnating at a high level. According to a statement from the canton, 734 people are currently in isolation and 1,076 in quarantine in the canton. The number of deaths has more than doubled since October. More than half of the people who tested positive could not tell where they were infected.
