Putin’s spokesman gossips: calls Navalny by name, for the first time

The one whose name should not be mentioned: for a month the Kremlin managed not to use the name of the opposition politician Navalny. Until now.

It has been almost a month since Putin critic Alexei Navalny was poisoned on August 20; and hardly a day went by when Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, did not have to answer questions about the Russian opposition in front of the media.

The name Alexej Navalnys never crossed his lips, as the “Stern” writes. The Kremlin apparently had strict instructions not to mention Alexei Navalny’s name. As a result, Peskov always spoke of the “citizen” or called Navalny “the patient.” Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin has also not named the critic.

But now Dmitri Peskow was gossiping in an interview with the Russian radio station “Kommersant FM”. During the conversation, Navalny’s name crossed his lips, as the Russian independent media write.

The passage from the interview is translated as follows:

Radio Kommersant FM: Alexei Navalny told the German prosecutor that he would soon return to Russia. Is the Kremlin happy with that?

Peskov: Look, any citizen of the Russian Federation can leave Russia and return to Russia.

Radio: I understand, but this is not an ordinary case, it has already received a lot of international attention. Hence the question of whether the Kremlin will be happy.

Peskor: If the citizen of the Russian Federation regains health, then of course everyone will be happy. After all, we are talking about a human life saved by the Omsk doctors. And if the doctors in Berlin eliminate some negative effects, in relation to the state of health, everyone will be happy.

Radio: But is the Kremlin following this case?

Peskow: What do you mean? Tracing?

Radio: Yes, follow the change in Navalny’s state of health.

Peskow: No, unfortunately we cannot change the status Nawalnys Chase. We don’t have that option.

After that, according to “Stern”, the interview should have ended very quickly. Soon after, the recorded conversation was no longer available on the radio station’s official website.
