38-year-old Laurent Roux becomes VBL’s new director
At its extraordinary meeting, the board of directors of Verkehrsbetriebe Luzern AG (VBL) elected Laurent Roux as the new director and chairman of the executive board. The Lucerne man by choice prevailed against nearly 150 competitors. Starts August 1, 2021.
(stg) At Laurent Roux, the Verkehrsbetriebe Luzern AG (VBL) board of directors has chosen a well-trained and well-connected personality as the new director. The VBL will announce it on Friday afternoon.
After completing his apprenticeship as a poly-mechanic, the 38-year-old completed a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering (University of Applied Sciences for Technology and Architecture, Horw). Laurent Roux also has a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (ETH Zurich) and an Executive MBA (University of Zurich). Roux has experience in strategic and operational management in complex private sector and public sector companies related to public transport (SBB, Zentralbahn and Datwyler IT Infra). In addition, he has considerable experience as a business developer and in various change processes in terms of corporate culture, digitization, agility, growth and restructuring.
Lucerne by choice has prevailed against stiff competition

says the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Renzo Simoni. VBL’s designated director, Laurent Roux, lives in Lucerne with his wife and three children. He will succeed Norbert Schmassmann on August 1, 2021. After a short transition phase, the former director will remain selectively available to his successor until his usual retirement at the end of October 2021.
