“I’m shocked”: ProSieben’s report on right-wing extremism moves viewers
The ProSieben report “Rechts. German. Radical. “Much debated. For 18 months, journalist Thilo Mischke investigated for the special episode of ProSieben on the scene of the right and the far right in Germany. Reporter Mischke attended a right-wing rock concert in Ostritz, Saxony, and a Pegida rally in Dresden. He also spoke with right-wing extremist Michael Brück, NRW state chairman of the “Dierechte” party, which constitutional protection classifies as undemocratic, and Sanny Kujath, 18, face of the right-wing youth group “Young Revolution”.
Praise ProSieben: horror at the statements of right-wing extremists
Conversations with right-wing extremists were positively valued by many Twitter users. According to the majority opinion on Twitter, it is good and important to warn against the ideas of many right-wing extremists.
But the praise for the documentary was also mixed with horror at the statements made by some of the protagonists. For example, phrases like “We have to make sure Germany is doing it wrong” (for the AfD to do well when it comes to polls) and “A Muslim should blow himself up at the carnival.”

Even the competition praises the ProSieben documentary
The fact that even the competition is praising the show and even recommending turning on the other station rarely happens and shows how important the topic is to many. In a tweet, the RTL media group made a “recommendation” for the ProSieben report.
Many companies also took the opportunity to position themselves against right-wing extremism. When a Twitter user reported that a far-right protagonist in the documentary was drinking Fritz-Kola, the company responded, “No kola for fascists.” Fritz-Kola is known for his commitment against right-wing extremist tendencies.
ProSieben responds to criticism from AfD politicians and the right
But of course, there were also criticisms of the documentary from the right. The AfD mayoral candidate for Stuttgart spoke of a “smear campaign” against the “AfD constitutional and civil party”. Furthermore, it is “incredible” how press spokesman Lüth, now dismissed for his misanthropic statements, was able to “sneak” into the party.
ProSieben indicates in a response that Lüth worked for the party for seven years.
The station also responds to other comments from the scene on the right. Sanny Kujath of the right-wing youth group “Young Revolution”, who was interviewed in the documentary, announced that she would not give up on “ProSieben dirt”. ProSieben responded and asked if he now wanted to present himself as a martyr.
In the lead-up to the broadcast, the broadcaster reacted unusually sharply to comments from right-wing trolls and took a position on Twitter on the critical statements. People try to “always respond appropriately and accurately to comments on social media,” ProSieben told Watson.
