In May 2007 Maddie McCann disappeared under mysterious circumstances from a vacation spot in Praia da Luz in the Algarve in Portugal. Even more than 13 years later, her parents are still waiting for the crime to be solved. German Christian B. * (43), a sex offender with multiple criminal records, is at the center of the investigation.
A statement from Brunswick prosecutor Hans Chrisian Wolters is causing a stir. In a television interview with the Portuguese television network RTP, Wolters, who is investigating Christian B. on suspicion of murder, confirmed that there was evidence of Madeleine’s death.
Wolters is specifically asked in the interview, “Do you have any material evidence that Madeleine is dead?” Wolters responds, “Yes.” The interviewer followed up and wanted to know what kind of evidence there was. Wolters weighs it and says, “I can’t say anything about the things we have.”
Christian B. is being investigated again for rape
Meanwhile, more investigations have been launched against Christian B. Hans Christian Wolters said on Monday that he was being investigated for suspected rape of a young Irish woman in the Algarve in 2004. Christian B. was convicted of raping a 72-year-old American woman in Praia da Luz in 2005.
Irish woman Hazel Behan was also apparently a victim of rape in Praia da Rocha in 2004. Praia da Rocha is just a 30-minute drive from the place of Madeleine’s abduction. Due to various parallels to the 72-year-old case, Hazel Behan feared that Christian B. was the perpetrator and voiced her suspicions to the police, as The Guardian reported.
