A month before the first official infected crown in Switzerland, a Ticino on February 25, a group of Chinese tourists from Wuhan traveled through central Switzerland, whose members had been infected with the virus. Five travelers out of the group of 30 tested positive for Corona at home, as reported by Tagesanzeiger and PilatusToday.

Chinese tourists occasionally wear protective masks during their visit to the city of Lucerne on Friday, January 24, 2020.

The tour group stayed in Sursee and took the “Golden Pass Line” from Lucerne to Interlaken. When the group of tourists traveled to Paris, a doctor examined a woman. This infected itself and, according to the Tagesanzeiger, became one of the first known cases in Europe.

The case was reported to the Federal Office of Public Health, which informed the cantonal health authorities. No further cases were found and the driver of the group’s car tested negative.
