A major police operation is currently underway in Pieterlen. For security reasons, the police cordoned off the town and evacuated the people. Passing through the town is not possible.
As confirmed by the cantonal police in Bern on Radio SRF, a bomb threat was received on Monday morning. Individual houses have already been evacuated for security reasons. Where and to whom the bomb threat points is still unclear.

As a spokeswoman for the Bernese cantonal police media said shortly before noon on demand, the deployment continues. He couldn’t say how long it would last. The local fire department has established a diversion. Bern cantonal police do not currently provide further information.
Shortly before 9 am, the police cordoned off an area in the Solothurnstrasse, Bielstrasse and Bahnhofstrasse area for security reasons. Pieterlen lies northeast of Biel in the direction of Solothurn.
In addition to the Bern Cantonal Police, the fire brigade is also deployed in Pieterlen.
