More than 100 people gathered in District 5 of Zurich on Saturday to demonstrate for the safety of refugees in Greece. In order for the rally to comply with the Federal Council meeting ban, the initiators opted for cars.
But before the 30 vehicles, including bicycles, could start driving, the city police stopped them. They blocked the unauthorized demonstration procession from all sides and drove the protesters out of the plaza. Most of the protesters left.
Not all activists followed the instructions.
Not everyone followed the police instructions: “About 30 of them stopped at Heinrichstrasse with around 16 vehicles. As a result, they were subject to a personal check and fired, “police said.
Soon after, the police discovered that several people were meeting with their vehicles in the army / Langstrasse and Josefstrasse.
The city police also intervened and pulled people away. Several people were arrested in connection with this. Two tractors, several music systems, and different demo material were pre-emptively insured. (sib)
