Justin Murisier is third on a World Cup podium for the first time in the Alta Badia Giant Slalom. The victory goes to Alexis Pinturault.
The best places
- Alexis Pinturault (FRA)
- 2. Atle Lie McGrath (NOR) + 0.07
- 3. Justin Murisier (SUI) + 0.24
- 4. Marco Odermatt (SUI) + 0.28
Justin Murisier achieved it at the age of 28: in the giant slalom in Alta Badia, Valais took the podium of the World Cup for the first time. Following the 11th intermediate position after race 1, Murisier improved 8 places. He is celebrating his first podium at the track where he achieved his best result so far 3 years ago as a fourth.
Marco Odermatt qualified directly behind Murisier. The Nidwalden man, who had finished 2nd, 3rd and 1st in the first three giant slalom of the winter, only missed the new podium by 4 hundredths.
Only French winner Alexis Pinturault and Norwegian surprise man Atle Lie McGrath were faster than the Swiss duo. The 20-year-old had never finished in the top 10 at the World Cup.
The other swiss
- 13. Semyel Snappy + 1.24
- 13. Gino Caviezel + 1.24
- Failed in the first race: Daniele Sette (39 °), Loïc Meillard (44 °), Cédric Noger (45 °)
Semyel Bissig put up another great performance, finishing 26th in race one and then reappearing. In race two, the Obwalden improved to 13th thanks to the second best running time.
