The head office has seen a significant rebound since closing. Even outside of quarantine, more and more companies are volunteering to work from home. Novartis is also at the forefront among the leading Swiss companies.
The pharmaceutical company allows its employees to work from home on a voluntary basis. At the same time, the company uses software to monitor employees. This is reported by the “Tages-Anzeiger”.
The “Workplace Analytics” program measures data from 30 employees at a time. Shows how often they email, phone, or have digital meetings. As human resources manager Steven Baert tells the newspaper, this is voluntary and most of the employees agreed to the process.
Fewer people come to the office on Monday and Friday
Novartis data shows that many more people work from home on fringe days. “Employee activity doesn’t decrease on Mondays and Fridays,” says Baert, “these days, as well as in general, the volume of work does not decrease.” It is no longer necessary to ask superiors to work from home, they just need to be informed.
Novartis makes a one-time payment of CHF 680 per person to settle in at the headquarters. For now, you are not dismantling your office space, but you would like to use the rooms more for group work.
Application for personal life
For many employees, working from home means more time at the computer. Novartis has an application prepared for this. This warns people to take breaks and gives them advice on sleep, relaxation, and nutrition.
“I can assure you that we will not receive any data from the app employees,” Baert told “Tages-Anzeiger.” (lui)
