According to Economy Minister Guy Parmelin, the Federal Council would like to introduce hardship regulation on December 1 for companies that have been particularly affected by the Corona crisis. “We are ready,” he said on Radio SRF’s “Saturday News.”
Above all, these are the industries most affected and whose existence is at risk: tour operators, travel and showmen. The state government originally named February 1, 2021 as the date for the hardship regulation to go into effect, later January 1.
High pressure on the Federal Council
The pressure on the Federal Council for an earlier date is great. More recently, the National Council’s health commission asked him in a letter on Friday to implement emergency measures for companies by the end of November. Fear a wave of bankruptcies.
Finance Minister Ueli Maurer told the National Council on Friday that he was assuming the hardship regulation would take effect “by Christmas.”
“December 1 would be for the best,” Parmelin said now on “Saturday News.” But that means a consultation with the cantons that only lasts two weeks. The Federal Council is ready, but for some cantons it could take longer.
