Crown cases: more than 81 percent. Dead: plus 39 percent. Hospitalizations: more than 44 percent. And all in two weeks.
The crown’s situation in the United States has dramatically worsened. Currently, the United States has more than 150,000 new infections per day (7-day average), and the trend is increasing.
The numbers are and will remain low in only one part: in the US Virgin Islands between the Atlantic and the Caribbean.
Just in time for the presidential elections, the country was in the grip of the third wave. Two weeks later, the US reached a new level of crown crisis. Hospitals are already on edge in many parts of the country. As the “New York Post” reports, inmates in Texas already have to help cope with the crisis: inmates are used in El Paso County to transport bodies.
And it doesn’t seem like anything is going to change that fast. Because: Trump is inactive, Biden powerless. America continues to race uncontrollably into chaos for the crown.
Trump waits for vaccination, Biden for science
“With this government there will be no blockade,” said Donald Trump (74) at a press conference on Friday in the rose garden of the White House. He completely relies on corona vaccination.
After the advancement of Pfizer and Biontech, Trump plans to vaccinate around 20 million people starting in December. However, to do this, the vaccine must still receive emergency approval from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Even then, it is unclear how many people are voluntarily vaccinated, how the distribution works logistically, and how quickly the effect occurs.
The Biontech boss himself does not expect to return to normal life until the winter of 2021 during the Corona crisis. “Absolutely essential” to achieve this goal is a high coronavirus vaccination rate for the fall, Ugur Sahin said in an interview with the BBC on Sunday.
As the United States groans under the Corona crisis, future US President Joe Biden (77) prepares. He has already stated that Corona will be the focus of his tenure. Immediately after his electoral victory, he presented a plan to combat it. Core Element: You want to listen to the scientists. Experts must also make decisions when in doubt.
The strategy of Biden and his vice president Kamala Harris (56) relies primarily on clear guidelines, contact tracing, and an expansion of the test strategy. A lock is also possible. While some of his advisers are flirting with at least four to six weeks of at least local lockouts, Biden has yet to take a clear position on the explosive issue.
How do the numbers compare to Switzerland?
Renowned experts and officials are represented on the newly formed Biden Council of Experts. However, one thing is missing: US chief virologist Anthony Fauci (79) wants to continue working for the Trump administration until the handover, probably more to limit damages than conviction. Because until January 20, Biden only has limited wiggle room anyway.
The next ten weeks are likely to be difficult for the United States. There is nowhere to think of a Merry Christmas in the country. And the next round of the Republicans’ fight against Obamacare is currently taking place in the Supreme Court: If they are successful, millions of people could lose their health insurance in the pandemic of all things.
While poor healthcare in many parts of the country and sectors of the population is exacerbating the crown’s situation in the US, a look at the numbers also shows: Relative to Switzerland, the numbers on paper are not they look so bad.
By Biden’s inauguration, it could be almost 3 million.
For risk assessment, Switzerland is currently analyzing the number of new infections per 100,000 people in the last 14 days. If this incidence in a country is at least 60 higher than the incidence in Switzerland, the country is included in the list.
Given the high number of cases in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, that would mean: out of 653 cases per 100,000 residents, travelers from the US would have to be quarantined in Switzerland. There are currently only 45 cases per 100,000.
However: in Switzerland, the cases are currently declining again. If, on the other hand, the exponential trend continues unchecked in the US, there would be at least 81 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in two weeks. In four weeks 147. Two weeks later 266. Then 481. And for the opening of Biden 871. That would be a total of about 2.86 million new corona infections – per day.
