As the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) announced Thursday morning, citing information from health authorities, another 14,211 cases of infection were recorded. The total number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Germany since the start of the pandemic rose to 2,252,001.
According to the RKI, there were also 786 deaths related to coronavirus infections in 24 hours. The total number of registered corona deaths in Germany rose to 59,742. The RKI estimated the number of people recovered from a corona infection at around 1,991 million.
The seven-day incidence declined again
The so-called seven-day incidence fell again to 80.7 on Thursday. The day before it was 82.9. A week ago, this value fell below the 100 mark for the first time in three months.
The seven-day incidence is the number of new infections per 100,000 population within this period. The federal government’s goal is to bring the value below 50. According to a decision by the federal and state governments, the current hard crown lock across Germany will initially apply until February 14. Next Wednesday, senior representatives of the federal and state governments want to discuss how to proceed in the fight against the pandemic. (AFP)
