Strong start to the season for Swiss skiers in Arosa. Fanny Smith finished second, in the men’s category Alex Fiva (second) and Joos Berry (third) took the podium.
After the men’s semi-finals, everything in Arosa seemed to be ready for the total Swiss victory. With Alex Fiva, Jonas Lenherr and Joos Berry, 3 representatives from Swiss-Ski qualified for the grand final.
There, however, David Mobärg thwarted the Swiss bill. The 2019 Swedish youth world champion drove confidently towards his first World Cup victory as the Swiss obstructed each other. Alex Fiva finished in second place, Joos Berry completed the podium in third place.
Ryan Regez was unable to intervene in the decision on the best seats. The Bernese, who was one of the big favorites before the race, was already stuck in the 1/16 finals.
Smith narrowly missed victory
In the female category, Fanny Smith showed an absolutely convincing performance until the final. The 2013 world champion controlled her playoffs from above. In the final, she fought a close duel with Alexandra Edebo. The Swede was able to keep Smith at bay and celebrated her first World Cup victory like her compatriot Mobärg.
Saskja Lack achieved respectable success. The 20-year-old made it to the quarter-finals, where she fell shortly after the start and had no chance.
So it goes
