Former US President Barack Obama (58) criticized President Donald Trump’s (73) dealings with the coronavirus pandemic during a private conversation. He described his policy as an “absolutely chaotic mess,” according to a “Yahoo News” recording.
Obama’s comments came during a Friday call to 3,000 members of his then government. Obama urged his supporters to support former Vice President Joe Biden, who challenges Trump in the Nov. 3 election. “What we are fighting are these long-term trends where selfishness, division and hostility are becoming a stronger impetus in American life,” said Obama.
Trump brags about his actions
More than 78,400 people have died in the United States from a coronavirus infection. More than 1.3 million tested positive. Trump has always defended his response to the pandemic.
White House spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany did not respond to Obama’s criticism. Simply put, “President Trump’s response to the corona virus was unprecedented and saved the lives of Americans,” he said. “As Democrats hunted witches against President Trump, President Trump stopped traveling from China.”
Obama has generally been cautious about current political events. But already on Twitter, the former president expressed his discontent and indicated that Trump had fallen asleep in the pandemic. (szm)
