The nursing staff did a great job on the first Corona wave in the spring and earned a lot of applause for it. But most of them are still waiting for the expected financial bonus and staff relief. In the second wave of infection, nurses and doctors are again faced with hard work and extra shifts. That is why the Swiss Association of Nursing Professionals (SBK) organizes a week of protest, which ends on Saturday with a demonstration on the Bundesplatz.

The main requirement is a rapid improvement of working conditions. SBK CEO Yvonne Ribi hopes the federal government will keep the promises made to nurses. Caregivers were disappointed in the cantons shortly after the first wave when Lukas Engelberger, president of the Cantonal Directors of Health Conference (GDK), warned staff of illusions.
